Abstract

This article discusses the importance of organizing mathematics lessons on the basis of a competency-based approach. In modern education, it is not enough for students to memorize formulas and solve standard exercises. They should also be able to apply mathematical knowledge in real-life situations, think logically, analyze problems, and make independent decisions. A competency-based approach helps teachers connect mathematical concepts with practical tasks and everyday experiences. In mathematics lessons, this approach develops students’ problem-solving skills, critical thinking, communication, and ability to work with information. The article also highlights the role of interactive methods, group work, practical exercises, and assessment criteria in forming mathematical competence.
