This study examines the critical role of formative assessments in supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) and improving their language proficiency. Formative assessments, when effectively designed, provide actionable feedback, foster learner engagement, and enhance instructional practices. The study explores best practices for tailoring assessments to the linguistic and cultural needs of ELLs, including differentiation, scaffolding, and continuous feedback mechanisms. Drawing on qualitative and quantitative research, this paper highlights the impact of formative assessments on learning outcomes and discusses strategies to ensure equity in the evaluation process. The findings underscore the importance of formative assessments in creating inclusive, learner-centered classrooms.
