Semirish bugungi kunda dunyo bo‘ylab keng tarqalgan va jiddiy sog‘liq muammolaridan biri hisoblanadi. Uning tez o‘sishi rivojlangan va rivojlanayotgan mamlakatlarda ham dolzarb masalaga aylangan. Semirish nafaqat insonning jismoniy salomatligini, balki iqtisodiy va ijtimoiy tizimlarni ham salbiy ta'sir qiladi. Oziq-ovqatlar tarkibidagi o‘zgarishlar, jismoniy faollikning pasayishi, shuningdek, stressning ortishi kabi omillar semirishning kuchayishiga sabab bo‘lmoqda. Shu sababli, semirishning oldini olish va unga qarshi kurashish, zamonamizning eng muhim sog‘liqni saqlash masalalaridan biri hisoblanadi.
Ushbu maqolaning maqsadi semirishning global miqyosda tarqalishining sabablari, uning sog‘liq va iqtisodiyotga ta’siri, shuningdek, turmush tarzidagi o‘zgarishlar bilan bog‘liq xavf-xatarlarni tahlil qilishdir. Maqolada semirishning oldini olish uchun samarali chora-tadbirlarni ishlab chiqish va sog‘lom turmush tarzini targ‘ib qilish zarurligi ko‘rsatilgan.
