This study explores the comparative linguistic and semantic features of proverbs in English and Uzbek, aiming to reveal how cultural values, social norms, and human experiences are reflected in language. Proverbs, as concise and fixed expressions of folk wisdom, convey moral guidance, practical advice, and societal beliefs. The research focuses on both structural and semantic characteristics, including syntactic patterns, lexical choices, stylistic devices, and figurative language such as metaphors and idioms. A comparative analysis highlights similarities and differences between the two languages: English proverbs often emphasize brevity, metaphorical imagery, and individual-oriented values, while Uzbek proverbs frequently reflect community-oriented thinking, cultural specificity, and narrative richness. The findings demonstrate that proverbs serve as both linguistic units and cultural markers, bridging language, thought, and cultural identity. The comparative approach underscores both the universality of human experience and the specificity of cultural expression. In conclusion, proverbs reflect the intricate relationship between language, thought, and culture, making their analysis a valuable endeavor for linguists, educators, and cultural researchers alike. This study contributes to the fields of linguistics, translation, and intercultural communication by providing insights into cross-linguistic comparisons of phraseology and cultural expression.
