Abstract

Assessment plays a crucial role in teaching English as it helps measure students' language proficiency, track their progress, and identify areas for improvement. Effective assessment strategies, including formative and summative assessments, provide valuable feedback to both teachers and students. Formative assessments, such as quizzes, peer reviews, and class discussions, enable continuous monitoring of learning, while summative assessments, like standardized tests and final exams, evaluate overall achievement. A well-designed assessment system fosters student motivation, enhances learning outcomes, and supports curriculum development, making it an essential component of English language teaching.
