This article examines the problems of spiritual and patriotic education of young people in higher educational institutions in connection with the views expressed by the poet Maksud Sheikhzade in his works. According to the author, the main goal of the spiritually patriotic education of young people in universities is education through the educational process and the revival of universal human values. As the author regards, the theme of patriotism is touched upon in the works of Maksud Sheikhzade, implies pride in the achievements and culture of his country, the desire to preserve its character and cultural characteristics, the desire to protect the interests of the Motherland.
